Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicyo paper)

Signature : Taira Moriie.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Silver double habaki.
Blade length : 70.8 cm or 27.87 inches.
Sori : 1.0 cm or 0.39 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 2.94 cm or 1.15 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.16 cm or 0.85 inches.
Kasane : 0.73 cm or 0.28 inches.
Weight of only blade : Around 815grams.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : It is around 6cm cut shorten katana. It is wide and thick long kissaki nice shape katana.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with clear hada pattern.
Jinie is well attached and chike is clearly seen.
Hamon : Consisted in nie structure, there is kogunoe mixed.
There ashi work in the ha and boshi is round brush up style.

Special feature : Taira Moriie is a descendent of Taira takada.
The founder of the Taira Takada school was Taira Nagamori and continued to late muromachi period.
Osamori, Moriie, Shizumori, Sadamori, iemorri, moritsune, morishige and shizumori worked mainly.

Menuki : On shakudo plate, lion design is engraved and inlayed with gold.
