Yari : Fujiwara Hisayuki Saku

Yari in Shirasaya

Signature : Fujiwara Hisayuki Saku
Shinshinto : Jyosaku ranking : Musashi province.
The blade was polished by good polisher.
Blade length : 52.8 cm or 20.78 inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.07 cm or 1.20 inches.
Kasane : 1.15 cm or 0.45 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : The blade is long blade which is called oomi Yari. It is rare big yari.
Jitetsu : Koitame had well grained with jinie attach.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with ash scatter and round hakikake style boshi.

Special feature : Hujiwara Hisayuki was called Kawai Kametaro and lived Edo Koishikawa.
he was direct retainer of the shogun and studied from sword makers like Hosokawa Masayoshi, Shimizu Hisayoshi and so on.
Probably he was high ranking samurai so he has a lot of opportunity to learn the technique from other sword makers.
He passed away Meiji 1st year September age 83 years of age long life.
The sword is unusual long Yari nice shape.
The sayagaki was written by Dr Kanzan very attractive hand writing.
