The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold Double Foiled Habaki
Blade length : 72.72 cm or 28.64 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.48 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.12 cm or 1.23 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.12 cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.63 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Edo Kanbun period(1661-1672)
Shape : It is firm katana with much width and thickness.
There are curve seen and the kissaki is rather long.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : Nie base suguha with small notare(loose end) mixed and nijyuuba put.Boushi round end.

Special feature : Yasutsugu school continued to 8th generation. This piece is from 3rd generation piece.
The first generation Yasutsugu is from Mino province.
At his early carrier, he named himself Echizen Shimosaka.
While then, he has become a personal sword smith of Shogun family.
While his presence, he has engraved the letter "康-Yasu-" from Tokugawa Ieyasu and Aoi family crest on the top.
The third generation of Echizen Ietsugu was successful after inheriting the family estate.
This piece is a well done 3rd generation Yasutsugu piece.
It is easily recognized that unique western iron is used from the fine jigane.
It is wide and thick firm looking piece.
