Katana in Shirasaya (39th NBTHK Juyo Paper)

Signature : Hizen Koku Kawachi Kami Masahiro
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Hizen Koku Kawachi Kami Masahiro sword belongs to Saijyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold double foiled habaki
Blade length : 70.8 cm or 27.87 inches.
Sori : 1.1 cm or 0.43 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 3.17 cm or 1.24 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.22 cm or 0.87 inches.
Kasane : 0.75 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : It is regular width and thickness with some Sori curvature. It is nice shape katana.
Jitetsu : Ko Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attached. It is clear Hizen Konuka Hada work.
Hamon : The hamachi starts as Suguha gradually becoming deep Nioiguchi gunome midare.
There is much sunagashi and Kinsuji work appearing. The hamon is like summer cloud with much activities.
Boshi is sharp tip in brush up style.

Special feature : Hizen no kuni Kawachi no kami Fujiwara Masahiro was stream of the first generation Tadayoshi.
He was a first son of the first generation Masahiro.
First he said Musashi Kami Masanaga and then Hishu Saga Ju Fujiwara Masahiro and Kawachi kami Fujiuji Masahiro,
Kawachi Kami Fujiwara Masahiro, He passed away Genroku 12th 73 years of age.
His subject is active Gumnome midare hamon like summer clouds.
This work has Masahiro's distinctive hamon. It is gunome midare hamon with much Sori curvature.
It is Kanei period fine shape work. There is no kizu or flaw .
