Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae.(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature : Motte Nanbantetsu Oite Bushu Edo Echizen Yasutsugu(first generation)

Shinto:Jojo saku ranking:Musashi province.
The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki : Pure gold double foiled habaki with Tokugaw's Aoi family crest.
Blade length : 64.24cm or 25.29 inches.
Sori : 1.35cm or 0.53 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi :3.12 cm or 1.22 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.49 cm or 0.98 inches.
Kasane : 0.61 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Early Edo Keicyo era.
Shape : The blade is wide and thick with small sori and long kissaki nice looking shape.
On the moot side, in the beautiful Koshibi,Sank tuck ken is engraved and on the back, Gomabashi and rendai is engraved.
Jitetsu :Itame had well grained with jinie attach beautiful excellent texture mixed
up Hollad iron and Japanese Tamahagane.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha based with a lot of ash soft feeling nice Habuchi.
Boshi is midarekomi style and turns back yakisage style.
there are some Muneyake on the Shinogiji.

Special feature : The first generation Yasutugu was admitted as sword maker of
Tokugawa shogun and oermitted to engrave Tokugawa family's crest on the sword nakago.
So Yasutsugu sword makers from first generation to Late edo period, they engraved
Tokugawa family's Aoi crest on the sword nakago.
They are known as Tokugawa shogun' honored sword makers.
This sword is excellent work and well balanced texture Japanese Tamahagane and holland's iron.
Generally speaking If making just only Holland iron, the Jigane is dark not bright.
But Yasutusugu from 1st to 3rd generations are quite well ballnced iron.
This sword is bright and nice Hamon.
The sword is mentioned on the Token shibata's sword book as Meihin syokai
(Masterpiece instruction Heisei 24th Jan #553)

Tsuba :Syakudo round plain shape.
Fuchikashira :On the syakudo nanako plate, Tokugawa family's aoi crest is engrabed.
Saya : On the gold nashiji, Tokugawa family's aoi crests are painted by gold nashiji.
Menuki : On the syakudo nanako plate, Tokugawa family's aoi crest is engrabed.
Kozuka : On the syakudo nanako plate, Tokugawa family's aoi crest is engrabed.
Kogatana : Jyumyo

Historical background: At Keicyo 20th after summer battle finished and destroyed
Osaka xasstle, Tokugawa Syogun governed Japan and opened Keicyo 8 Feb 12th, Ieyasu opened Edo.
At keityo 10th April 16th Tokugawa Hidetada succeeded Tokugawa family.
