Katana: Mumei (Echizen Kanenaka)

Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho paper)

The blade was polished.
Habaki: Silver single foil habaki
Blade length : 69cm or 27.17inches.
Sori : 1.7cm or 0.67inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.19cm or 1.26inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.1cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.74 cm or 0.29inches.
Era : Early Edo period.
Shape : Regular size shape and thickness. The boshi is slightly round end.
Jitetsu : Itame had well grained with jinie attached. The jigane can be clearly seen with utsuri(white foggy line.)
Hamon : Nie base gunome mix. There are small kinsuji seen.

Special feature : Kanenaka was working at Echizen province and strongly influenced by
Kanemoto. He made like Kanemoto style swords during his life. According to the reputation, his swords cut well.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : round shape iron Tsuba, maple is engraved with openwork.
Fuchikashira : mouse and broom are engraved with gold and copper color.
Kojiri: wave is engraved.
Saya : on the black roiro saya,
Menuki : mouse and Japanese radish are enograved with gold and silver color.
