Katana

Katana: Mumei (Houju)

Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature: Mumei (Koudai Houju)

The blade was polished.
habaaki:silver single habaki.
Blade length : 75.7cm or 29.80 inches.
Sori : 2.4cm or 0.94 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi :3.31 cm or 1.30 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.54 cm or 1 inches.
Kasane :0.7 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : early Muromachi period.
Shape : The blade is wide(3.31cm) and thick with good sori
and longer kissaki nice looking shape.
Jitetsu :item had and ooitame had amide with jinie attach visible to see the texture.
On the Ji, there are some small kiss but not serious.
Hamon : niedeki gunome midare ,double hamon and ashi,
yo sunagashi Kinsuji scatter in Hamon.

Special feature : Houju school started from Kamakura period to Muromachi period at Oushu province as Mogusa school. The Houju is written as Ho Ju(treasure Kotobuki) which is quite lucky meanings.
So The sword Houju were treated as gift like marriage ceremony, birthday or other purpose.
At Tohoku area(Nothern part of Japan) Mogusa, Gassan are well known sword makers.
It is very curious that the Kyushu sword like Kongo hyoid, Konaminohira and Houju and Gassan are
same quality.
Tohoku area,and Kyushu district are very far departed but it is strange because the sword is very similar.
I think the iron sand are almost same as both countries.
