Katana: Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Tegai school

Signature: Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Tegai school.

The blade was polished by good polisher.
Habaki : gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 65.7 cm or 25.86 inches.
Sori : 1.1 cm or 0.43 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 2.73 cm or 1.07 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.00 cm or 0.78 inches.
Kasane : 0.59 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Late Kamakura to early Nanbokucho period.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei (cut shortened)
On both sides of the blade has Bo-hi and Hi engraved.
The blade is regular size with longer kissaki.
Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained with jinie attach with chikei work.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha Ashi and yo work and also sunagashi, kinsuji work.
Boshi is noter round shape with hakikake style.

Special feature : The founder of the Tegai started by Kanenaga and continued to Edo period.
In Yamato school, Tegai, Sikkake, Taima, Senjyuin, and Hosho are divided.
These school sword makers were buddhist monks and intensely religious
and made swords with their whole heart.
Generally speaking it is rather easy to distinguish which school belong to the sword.
They adhere strictly to making craft and way like religion so the sword has distinctive jigane and hamon.
Also very few swords has signature.
Yamato tegai Kanenaga is quite well jigane and with thick nioikuchi hamon.
If the blade has item hada and masanagare, the blade must be late Nanbokucho period
or muromachi period buty this sword is more elegant and clear texture.
It is rather difficult to obtain good toga sword.

Koshirae :
Tsuba :On the syakudo mokko style stub, the mimi is covered by gold color syakydo.
Fuchikashira :On the syakudo plate, some flowers are engraved with gold color.
Saya : On the black color roar saya,
some Tokugawa family crests are painted by gloss color.
Menuki : Aoi leaves are engraved by solid gold.
