This Sasshu Ju Masayoshi belongs to saijyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished by high rankin g polisher.
Blade length : 70.7 cm or 27.83 inches.
Sori : 1.6 cm or 0.62 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.18cm or 1.25 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.25 cm or 0.88 inches.
Kasane : 0.75 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Late Edo period Anei era.
Shape : The blade is wide and thick with deeper sorri
and long kissaki healthy wonderful shape.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada well grained with blackish jigane and chikei work.
Hamon : Niedeki deep nioikuchi suguha and notare work.
In hamon, there are many sunagashi and konsuki work.
Boshi is ichimai style with double hamon.
Special feature : Sasshu Ju Masayoshi is a son of the Ichiji Masayoshi and borned at Kyoho 18th.
succeeded 3rd generation and named Masayoshi.
Kansei first year, he got the name Hoki Kami. At Bunsei first year he passed awaay age 86.
He was highest sword makers as Two finest works in satuma blade at that time.
Generally early stage of his work remind us Inou Shinkai which is wide deep nioikuchi suguha hamon.
This sword is wide and thick very healthy blade with sunagashi, kinsuji powerful energy.
I think the blade is one of the top ranking his work.
The nakago is very clear nice condition. recently it is hard to buy Satuma blade because many sword collectors buy Satsuma blade. We recommend this masterpiece of Satsuma blade.
Tsuba :On the round shape iron Tsuba, rise up rim and engraved Hyotan(some plant) with gold color.
Fuchikashira :On the syakudo nanako plate, kiku flowers are engraved with gold and red color.
Saya : On the black rioro saya, with aogai chirashi(spread tiny blue shell powder.
Menuki : a crane is engraved with gold color.
