Katana: Satsu Yo Shi Oku Motohira

Signature: Satsu Yo Shi Oku Motohira
Tenmei 2nen Tora 8 gatsu hi

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 74.99 cm or 29.52 inches.
Sori : 1.65 cm or 0.64 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.21 cm or 1.26 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.21 cm or 0.87 inches.
Kasane : 0.62 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Edo period. around Tenmei era.
Shape : The sword is wide and thick with suitable sori and longer kissaki nice looking shape.
Jitetsu :Koitame had and mokume had amide with jinie attach and blackish jigane also chikei work.
Hamon : From the Hamachi, suguha based and then Gunome midair with thick noioikuchi and sunagashi, kinsuji work.
Boshi is round shape with kinsuji.

Special feature : Motohira was a student of the swordsmith of
Motohusa and called Oku Takazaemon.His subjects are respected
highly and the top sword smith in Satuma school
during Edo period. He was lived until 84 years of age and left a lot of
swords as posthumous works.
He made active sosyu style like shizu school.
At Kagoshima prefecture, Motohira and Masayuki are both well known sword makers.
Especially Motohita is the top ranking wordsmith in Kagoshima.
This Motohira is rather mild and active elegant sword with soft thick nioikuchi hamon.
The blade was polished by highest polisher and without Kizu and flow.
Inside of the hamon looks mooring fog and active hamon.
Boshi is round shape with nice kinsuji work.
