Kogatana in Shirasaya
Signature : Senshin Kunihira Sei No. (Mukansa sword smith)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword Kunihira belongs to Jyo saku ranking.

The blade was well polished.
Jidai(era) : Gendai.
Shape : The Kozuka is wide and long(17.9cm) gorgeous Kogatana like Tanto length.
Jigane : Itame had well grained with jinie attach and masanagare.
Hamon : Niedeki Gunome Midare with Koashi attached. Boshi is sharp and round end.
Boshi is Togari style.
Blade length :17.9cm or 7.04 inches.

Special feature : Kawachi Kunihira, the sword smith, was born at Osaka province at Showa 16th(1941) and studied under the Human national treasure Miyairi Shohei especially Soshu Den style.
After that he studied from human national treasure Sumitani Seiho and learned Sumitachi Choji style Hamon.
After becoming a Mukansa sword smith in Showa 62 year, he has made various swords including Tachi that was dedicated to Ise Jingu Shikinensengu in 1987(Rebuilding of the shrine in every once in several years).
As he graduated Kansai university, he sometimes exhibited his swords at this school.
He made a Tachi for Ise Jingu Shrine.
This blade looks like his master Miyairi Shosei style like Samonji Tanto.
This Kogatana is very large and wide like Tanto length.
