Jidai (era) : Late Edo Period

Special feature : The front side is peony and peacock design is illustrated in gold Makie lacquer. The cloud is also drawn in gold and shakudo. The sides of the Suzuri box is plant design in same Makie style. That is same at the back of the box.
Fumibako or Writting Box: The front side is peony, peacock and cloud is colored in gold Makie lacquer and the cloud is drawn in gold inlay.
Bundai: The front side is peony, peacock and cloud is colored in gold Makie lacquer and the cloud is drawn in gold inlay. Shakudo is coated around and the pattern is engraved in gold.

Overall it is top quality work and the condition is extremely well.
There are marks that the three items were used in the past years however,
it is still remaining in fine condition. There is no wood box so the box was kept in
owner's storage for long time.
It is beautiful set of Makie that deserves to be displayed in a museum.
A wonderful piece of art made by Edo Period Makie artisan.
