Tanto in Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : Mumei(Yamamura)

The blade was polished.
Blade length :28.7 cm or 11.29 inches.
Sori : 0.4 cm or 0.15 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.62 cm or 1.03 inches.
Kasane : 0.51 cm or 0.20 inches.
Era : Late Nanbokucho period.
Shape : Wide Tanto. 3 Suji-Hi and wide Bo-Hi are engraved.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada and Mokume mixed with Jinie attached.
Hamon : Ko-Niedeki Gunome Midare. In Ha, there are fine Sunagashi and Kinsuji. Boshi is Midarekomi Hakikake style.

Special feature : This Tanto Mumei attribute as Yamamura.
Masanobu is the founder of Yamamura school at Echigo Takada province. This blade looks like Nobukuni. Jitetsu is well grained. Hamon is fine Gunome Midare and Boshi is Midarekomi Hakikake style.
Jigane is so elegant.

Tsuba : Shakudo Hamidashi Tsuba.
Fuchikashira : Shakudo, pine needle emgraved with copper.
Saya : red brown color with mottled black
Menuki : Shakudo, crane is engraved with gold color.
Kozuka : Copper Ishimeji, dog and person is engraved with gold color.
