Wakizashi: Bicchu Kuni Mizuta Kunishige

Wakizashi in Shirasaya(NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature: Bicchu Kuni Mizuta Kunishige.

The blade was polished.
habaki:silver single habaki.
Blade length : 50.9 cm or 20.03 inches.
Sori :1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi: 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.03 cm or 1.19 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.29cm or 0.90 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Edo period Kanbun era.
Shape : The blade is wide and thick with small sori and longer kissaki nice looking shape.
Jitetsu :Itame had well grained with jinie attach and also chikei work blackish jigane.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midair and togari gunome midair mixed with thick nioikuchi
Boshi is also thick nioikuchi midarekomi style and turns back Yakisage style.
On the shindig, aranie work.(wildish rough nie)

Historical background: The founder of the Mizuta Kunishige started from late Kamakura period.
Generally this Mizuta school was working late Muromachi to Edo period.
Ooyogo Kunishige, Kawano Rihei Tameie, Yamashiro Daijyo Kunishige
and others were working at Kanbun era.
All of the swords were active wild thicl nioikuchi hamon.
This sword is also typical wonderful Jigane and Hamon.
