Wakizashi: Bishu Osahune Norimitsu

Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae(NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature : Bishu Osahune Norimitsu
Choroku 4 nen 2 gatsu hi (February 1460)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Bishu Osahune Norimitsu belongs to regular ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki: Single silver Habaki.
Blade length : 53.1 cm or 20.90 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 2.69 cm or 1.05 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.95 cm or 0.76 inches.
Kasane : 0.60 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Muromachi period around Choroku era(1460).
Shape : The blade is regular size thickness and width with Sori.
There are Bo-Hi on both side.
Jitetsu : Ko Itame Hada and Mokume Hada mixed with fine Jinie attached. There are Utsuri.
Hamon : Ko-Nie Deki Choji Midare. This is active Hamon.
Boshi is Midarekomi style.

Special feature : Bisyu Osahune Norimitsu was working at Meiou era to Eisyo era in Muromachi period.
He didn't make Kazuuchimono(mass productive items).
So even if the signature is Bishu mei, the blade is typical regular sword not Kazuuchimono.
He made few sword with Zokumyo sword.
This blade has tiny Kizu. But it is not serious. The "Choroku 4 nen 2 gatsu hi "is also precious.
In the Hamon, a lot of activities appear with Utsuri.

Koshirae : nice quality.
Tsuba : Round shape iron Tsuba, flower is engraved with open work.
Fuchikashira : Yamagane, arabesque is engraved.
Saya : Brown and black color Kawari-Nuri Saya.
Menuki : Chrysanthemum is engraved with gold color.
