Habaki: Gold Double Foiled Habaki
Blade length : 55.45cm or 21.83inches.
Sori : 1.2cm or 0.47inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.91cm or 1.15inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.05 cm or 0.8inches.
Kasane : 0.59cm or 0.23inches.
Era : Edo Period Circa Kanei (1624-1645)
Shape : It is wide and thick wakizashi with Bo-hi engraved at both side of the blade.
The Sori is rather deep and there is long kissaki. It is nice shape wakizashi.
Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained with jinie attached. There is chikei works seen.
It is most rustic Kunihiro school jigane.
Hamon : Nie structure gunome-midare with deep nioiguchi.
There is deep sunagashi and kinsuji works.
Special feature : Kunimichi is a swordsmit hfrom Yamashiro province.
He was first the student of Iga nokami Kunimich and lated on moved under Horikawa Kunihiro.
His first signature was engraved as Kunimich.
The year of his birth and death is unknown however, it is said that he is born in Tensho 4th year and
the latest piece was made in Meireki 3rd year(1657).
Most of the pieces are gorgeous style with much ups and down in the yakiba.
He has received the post of Dewa Daisho at Keicho 19th year or 20th year.
This piece has clearly shown the Soshuden characteristic. Boshi is midare komi style and it has much activities in the ha.
Assuming from this masterpiece, he must have immitated Daishizu works.
He has has gone beyond his mentor and made many remarkable pieces as a student of Kunihiro.
Koshirae:
Tsuba: Round octangular shape iron tsuba with standing up rim.
Fuchigashira; Shakudo nanakoji plate with plum and hawk design engraved and inlayed with gold.
Menuki:Shakudo plate with plum and hawk design engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya: Black Roiro Saya with some kizami at the top part.
