Wakizashi

Wakizashi: Nobukuni

Wakizashi in Shirasaya (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper)
Signature : Nobukuni

Shinto : Chusaku : Chikuzen
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijo saku, Jojo saku Jo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jojo saku ranking.

The blade is polished by good polisher.
Habaki : Gold foiled single Habaki.
Blade length : 44.5 cm or 17.5 inches.
Sori : 0.7 cm or 0.28 inches.
Mekugi :1  
Width at the hamachi : 3.18 cm or 1.25 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.53 cm or 1.00 inches.
Kasane : 0.75 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Edo period Kanbun era. (AD1661~1672)
Shape : The blade is wide and thick healthy blade.
Jigane : Koitame hada well grained with Jinie attach.
Hamon : Niedeki small Gunome-midare and in Hamon, Ashi and Sunagashi work.
Boshi is Midarekomi round shape.

Special feature : Nobukuni at Edo period Kanbun era is a stream of Muromachi period.
Chikuzen-ju Yoshisada, Nobukuni Yoshisuke and Nobukuni-zaemon Yoshikane were active at same time.
This blade is thick and wide, having a two characters signature in stem of the blade and this is the most different point from the blades forged by other swords smiths.
I think he is proud for his singnature same as old Koto Nobukuni.
Blade is very healthy and nice Hamon.
