The blade was polished.
Blade length : 38.2cm or 1.2 inches.
Sori : 0.2cm or 0.08inches.
Mekugi: 1

Width at the hamachi : 3.02cm or 1.19inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.69cm or 1.05inches.
Kasane : 0.64 cm or 0.25 inches.
Weight of only blade:
Era :Late Edo period.
Shape : The piece reminds us of Naginata naoshi from the shape.
The kissaki is long ended.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached.
There are fine jikei works seen.
Hamon : Nie base gunome midare with some koashi attached.
Boushi area is also gunome midare
work that turns around slightly sharp.

Special feature : Sakashita Naganao is a swordsmithg from Aizu.
He may have been the student of Miyoshi Nagamichi.

Historical background: At November 15th Keio 3rd year(1867),
Ryoma Sakamoto (the figures to dethrone the Tokugawa Shogunate at the time)
was assassinated at Oumi-ya, Kyoto at age of 31.
