Katana : Hizen koku Saga Ju Minamoto Yoshifusa(2nd generation)

Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature : Hizen koku Saga Ju Minamoto Yoshifusa(2nd generation)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Hizen koku Saga Ju Minamoto Yoshifusa belongs to Jyojyo ranking.

The blade was polished
Habaki : Gold color single habaki.
Blade length : 76 cm or 29.92 inches.
Sori : 1.4 cm or 0.55 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.91 cm or 1.14 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.95 cm or 0.76 inches.
Kasane : 0.66 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Edo period, around Manji to Kanbun era.
Shape : The blade is long and nice looking shape.
Jitetsu : Koitame had well grained with jinie attach with Chikei work nice Konuka hada which is typical Hizen blade.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with kasha soft feeling nioikuchi.
In Hamon, there are many sunagashi and Kinsuji work.

Special feature : Yoshifusa is called Shichirozaemon and worked for first generation Hizen Tadayoshi.
He worked for his master for a long period so his swords were made few.
He moved to Shimahara(Now Nagasaki Prefecture)and become the smith for Koriki Sakon.
This work is similar to first generation Tadayoshi.
The Jigane is "moist" with nice Chikei work. His skillfulness could be imagined easily from the high quality Hizen Jigane that is distinctive to Hizen province.
Not many of his own work is left because was working under Tadayoshi.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Mokko shape iron tsuba with brass pattern engraving.
Fuchikashira : Silver plate with much ups and downr.
Saya : On Samekawa(ray skin) red color is painted.
The dense gold lacquer is applied on Makie box.
It is gorgeous high relief Makie.
Menuki : Brass with Yajiri(arrow) engraveing and signed "Hori"
