Katana: Korekazu (Musashi Daijo)

Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature : Korekazu (Musashi Daijo)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 64.24 cm or 25.29 inches.
Sori : 1.81 cm or 0.71 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.07 cm or 1.20 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.11 cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.74 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Edo period. around Keian era.
Shape : Wide and thick with Sori. This is healthy and nice blade.
Jitetsu : Ko-itame hada well grained with Jinie attached. There is Utsuri.
Hamon : Nioi Deki, Choji Midare with Juka-Choji. In Ha, there are Ko-Ashi and Yo. Boshi is Notare style.

Special feature : Musashi Daisho Sakon Korekazu has been called Kawakami Sakon. He was born in Oumi no kuni
Gamou ward. He has been part of Oumi Sekidou group smith and later on moved to Edo. Dewano kami Mitsuhira, Tsuima
kami Tsunemitsu, Hata Touren has been successful at Musashi province.
At that time, Fukuoka Sekidou has made pieces that resembles Ichimonji. Musashi daijyou Korekazu pieces are much like Yoshioka Ichimonji 
This piece is one of Korekazu's best pieces and nijimei(two letter signature). It is what is called gifted piece.
The piece is well made compared to his other common pieces. At first glance, it looks like
Yoshioka ichimonji. There are no kizu or flaw. We highly recommend you this katana.
It is in really nice shape for its sori.
