Dai : Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae

Signature : Bushido Higo koku Yashiro Ju Akamatsu Taro Kanehiro saku
Motte Jikasei Tetsu Kitae kore Mizunoe-Tatsu 3 nen Kichijitsu (March 2012)

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold single foiled habaki
Blade length : 72.8cm or 28.66 inches.
Sori : 1.8cm or 0.70 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.18cm or 1.25 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.43cm or 0.95 inches.
Kasane : 0.8cm or 0.31 inches.
Era : Modern(March 2012)
Shape : It is wide and thick work with Bo-Hi groove engraved on both side of the blade.
The Sori curvature is rather deep. Kissaki is long. It is magnificent shape katana.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. The hada pattern is clear.
Hamon : Consisted with combination of nie and gunome midare hamon. Boshi is midare-komi(wavy).

Special feature : Akamatsu Taro Kanetsugu was born in Showa 26th year at Kumamoto Yashiro .
HIs actual name is Kimura Kanesada, He learned forging from his father.
In Showa 61st year, his work was designated as traditional craft work of Kumamoto prefecture.
Both siblings made magnificent works.
Kanetsugu is one of the most popular sword smiths today.
This sword was made by iron that was made in his house.
Therfore his sword has quite unique jigane compared to other sword smiths work.
With Kanetsugu at the head of list , many sword smiht such as Kanesuke, Kanemitsu, Kaeteru
and Kaneyuki has been successful in the Akamatsu Taro school.
Especially the magnificent swords imitating Kiyomaro's work is rated highly.

Tsuba :Mokko shape iron tsuba with Japanese apricot and stem design engraved in openwork.
Saya : Black roiro saya
Fuchikashira: Shakudo ishimeji plate with umbrella design engraved and inlaid with gold.
Menuki: Shakudo plate with flower design engraved and inlaid with gold.
