The blade was polished
Habaki : Gold double foiled habaki
Blade length : 66.7 cm or 26.27 inches.
Sori : 2.1 cm or 0.83 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.14 cm or 1.24 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.04 cm or 0.8 inches.
Kasane : 0.67 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period. Eiroku Era(1558-1570)
Weight of Only the Blade : 745g
Shape : It is ordinary width and thickness but the sori(curve) is wuite deep. It is nice shape sword.
Jitetsu : Itame with mokume mixed jinie. There is clear utsuri(white mist like spots) seen.
Hamon : Nie base suguha with mixture of kogunome. Ashi(feet of temperlline), yoengraved.
There are delicate sunagashi and kinsuji works. Boushi is irregular shape.

Special feature : Harima, Mimasaka and Bizen province had been
prospered under the protection of the Akamatsu family.
Above all, Bizen province has turned out a great many talented
swordsmiths.
A large number of swords were made there in the late Muromachi period not only supplying the demand of the Age of
Provincial Wars in Japan but also as an important exporting item to the Ming dynasty in China.
It is said that the founder of Osafune School was Mitsutada in mid 13th century.
Kiyomitsu was one of Osafune swordsmith.
The name had been succeeded for generations. Above all,
Gorozaemon (No) Jo Kiyomitsu circa Tenmon era and Magoemon (No)
Jo Kiyomitsu are famous among them.
This piece could be categorized as kazuuchimono( one of mass produced sword.)
It is well made and the condition is not bad.
The nakago has only one mekugi and the yasuri line remain clear.
The condition explains well that, despite the age, this katana has been cherished and preserved well. We recommend this katana.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Mokko(cross shape) iron tsuba. Design of the flow of water and
floating autumn leaves engraved. The tsuba is made in Mid-Edo period.
Fuchikashira : Shakudou ishimeji with dear design engraved. Made by Hosaka in Mid-Edo period.
Saya : Black roiro saya
Menuki : Shakudou base with lion design engraved.
