Katana in Koshirae(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : Bizen koku Ju Osafune Sukesada Saku
Tenbun 16 nen 8 gatsu kijijitsu (August 1547)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 66.2 cm or 26.06 inches.
Sori : 2.4 cm or 0.94 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.78 cm or 1.09 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.80 cm or 0.70 inches.
Kasane : 0.595 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : Regular size Katana with large Sori. nice shape Katana.
Jitetsu : The mixture of Itame Hada and Mokume Hada with Jinie attach.
There are some Oohada.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Suguha and Gunome Midare.
Boshi is Togari gokoro round shape.

Special feature : Bizen koku ju Osafune Sukesada has flourished during late Muromachi period. Sukesada made many mass productive items.
This blade is not mass production. This has been very carefully made.
The Jigane has some variabce. And there are Utsuri.
The engraving of this signature is clear. The Nakago is almost Ubu.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round shape iron Tsuba, family crest is engraved with open work and gold inlay. The rim is covered with brass.
Fuchi: Shakudo Nanako, peony is engraved with gold color.
Kashira : Shishi dog is engraved with gold color.
Saya : Black color Kizami Saya.
Menuki : Shakudo, flower is engraved with gold color. Edo period.
Kozuka : Shakudo, chrysanthemum is engraved with gold color. Late Edo period.
Kogatana : signature: Kunishige. Late Edo period.
