Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : Hizen Ju Harima no kami Fujiwara Tadakuni(1st generation)

The blade was polished.
Habaki: Gold double foiled habaki
Blade length : 71.81cm or 28.28inches.
Sori : 0.6cm or 0.23 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.13cm or 1.23inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.31cm or 0.9inches.
Kasane : 0.73cm or 0.29inches.
Era : Edo Kanbun period.
Shape : It is wide and thick with shallow sori. It is konuka hada.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is
Hamon : NIe or crystal like straight temper line suguha with
detail feet koashi attached. Boushi is round end.

Special feature : Hizenjyuu Harima no kami Fujiwara Tadakuni is a son of Hizen Yoshiie. First he has received the post of Harimadaijyo(3rd grade official position.) and later on received Harima no kami (chief officer position.)
Tadakuni made excellent pieces of both suguha with wild hamon midareba. This piece may have imitated Rai Kunitoshi. There are some minor flaws which is not serious. It is wide magnificent looking katana.
