Tenpo 4 nen 2 gatsu Hi (February 1833)

ShinShinto: Jyo saku: Musashi province.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Kato Chounsai Tsunatoshi belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 68.7 cm or 27.04 inches.
Sori : 2.4 cm or 0.94 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.82 cm or 1.11 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.83 cm or 0.72 inches.
Kasane : 0.66 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Late Edo period. Around Enpo era.
Shape : Regular size Katana with large Sori. Nice shape Katana.
Jitetsu : Ko Itame Hada grained with Jinie attach. It is clear Jigane.
Hamon : Nioi Deki, Gunome Midare and Choji Midare. It looks like Ichimonji.

Special feature : At first glance, this blade remind Yokoyama Sukenaga.
This kind of blade was popular at that time.
The swords which was made Tenpo era, sword smiths show their full skill.
This style of blade is a little different from Kato Chounsai Tsunatoshi,
mainly the Yokoyama school was made this kind of blade.
Probably this kind of Hamon was popular at that time.
This blade has brilliant Choji Midare Hamon. The Jigane is also nice.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round shape iron Tsuba, pine tree and two wise men are engraved with gold color.
Late Edo period.
Fuchikashira : Shakudo Nanako, Samurai is engraved with gold color.Late Edo period.
Saya : Black Roiro Saya.
Menuki : Shakudo, Samurai is engraved with gold color.Late Edo period.
