Katana in Shirasaya (NBTHK 25th Jyuyo Touken)

Signature : Mumei (Enju)

Sayagaki : Ondenrai Higokuni Enjyu Oosuriage Mumei nari (Cut Shorten)
Nagasa 2 shaku 4 sun 2 bu ari(The length is 73.48cm) Honami NIsshu sensei.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Gold double foiled habaki
Blade length : 73.48 cm or 28.94 inches.
Sori : 1.83 cm or 0.72 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 2.85 cm or 1.12 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.98 cm or 0.78 inches.
Kasane : 0.64 cm or 0.25 inches.
Weight of only blade : 600g
Era : Late Kamakura period.
Shape : Oosuriage Mumei blade. There are bohi engraved in the front and back.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada with komokume hada mixed. There are masa style flow in the jitetsu and there are thick jinie attached.
Clear jigane seen with faint utsuri.
Hamon : NIe base suguha. It is bright ha. The boshi is round ended.

Special feature : Enjyu school was founded by Kunimura, the grandson of Raikuniyuki,
at Kamakura period and lasted until Nanbokucho period.
They made swords at Higo Kikuchi ward.
Some of the famous smith may be KUnitoki, Kuni, Kuniyasu and Kuniyoshi.
The piece is no different to Raikunitoshi piece.
Especially the jigane, elegant suguha and faint utsuri is impressive.
This blade is attributed as Jyuyo blade. It is enjoyable piece to view.
