Signature : Hitachi Kuni Kasama Jyunin Minamoto Masatsugu Saku kore.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku) This sword belongs to Saijyo saki ranking.
The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki :Gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 75.45cm or 29.7inches.
Sori : 1.52cm or 0.6inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.31cm or 1.3inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.57cm or 1.01inches.
Kasane : 0.82cm or 0.32inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : The blade is wide (3.31cm) and thick with Ookissaki long size gorgeous sword.
Jitetsu :Koitame had well grained with jinie attach.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midare with a lot of Sunagasi and small kinsuji work.
Boshi is gunome midare with hakikake style.
Special feature : Hitachi Kuni Kasama Jyunin Minamoto Masatsugu was working
at Hitachi Kasama (right now Ibaragi prefecture Kasama city).
Kasama Daimyo was battling with Aizu daimyo at the end of Edo period.
So Government army estimated highly for the Kasama Daimyo.
He was called Takehachiro Hosaka probably served for Kasama Daimyo.
Masatsugu is not so famous sword maker but from this sword,
his technique is remarkable work. I think this sword is the top ranking sword in his life.

Koshirae : The Koshirae is good condition.
Tsuba :On the mokko style syakudo nanako Tsiba, Kiku flowers and some flowers are
engraved on the edge of the tsuba.
Fuchikashira :On the syakudo nanako plate, Manji family cresst and flower design
are engraved, Manji family crests are circling gold inlay.
Saya : on the red brown color saya, a lot odd tiny black spots are painted.
Menuki : Manji family crests and other are engraved with gold color.
