Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper)

(Kiritsuke Mei) Suriage Miyaguchi Ikkansai Tsunetoshi

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Mumei (Esshu Kuniyuki) belongs to Jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished
Habaki : Gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 66.15 cm or 26.043 inches.
Sori : 2 cm or 0.78 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.88 cm or 1.13 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.95 cm or 0.76 inches.
Kasane : 0.60 cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Nannbokucho period.
Shape : The blade was suriage(cut shortened) and regular sized motohaba and thickness with deep sori elegant shape.
Jitetsu : Mokume Hada and item had Masame Hada mix and oohed appear.
There are some lose had and small openings but not serious.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midair and active double hamon.
Inside of the Hamon, many active sunagashi and Kinsuji scatter.
Boshi is midarekomi style very wild feeling sword.

Special feature : Esshu Kuniyuki is a stream of the Rai kuniyuki and moved to Echizen province.
The sword was made around Nanbokucyo period which is elegant shape and blackish jigane and active temper line in Hamon.
The blade looks Tametsugu or Sanekage active wildish feeling hamon.
On the jigane, there are some small kiss and small openings but not serious.
The blade has passed so many years (650 years) by high ranking samurai.

On the tang, sword maker Miyaguchi Ikkansai Tsunetoshi who was a son of the
Ikkansai Shigetoshi mentioned the suriage was done. He lived in Tokyo.
Anyway even though the blade has some small kizu but the blade is NBTHK Tokubetsu hozon paper.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round shape iron Tsuba with Manji and clouds are engraved with open work.
Fuchikashira : Nanako, dragon is engraved.
Saya : Black Kizami Saya.
Menuki : The dragon is engraved with gold color.

Back ground of the era : At Ouan 1st year, Asikaga shogun assumed a Shogun.
