Iaido Katana

Katana: Mumei (Fujishima)

The blade was polished
Habaki : Silver single foiled habaki
Blade length : 74.1cm or 29.17inches.
Sori : 1.6cm or 0.63inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3cm or 1.18inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.15cm or 0.85inches.
Kasane : 0.75cm or 0.3inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period
Shape : It is most likely O-suriage mumei shape sword with bo-hi engraved
at both side of the ha. It is long kissaki katana.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached. The jigane is clearly seen.
Hamon : Consisted in nie structure, it is gunome midare
with slightly round hamon, sunagashi is seen and boshi is round and midare komi irregular line style.

Special feature : Fujishima school is a descendant of Rai school that moved to Gaga province.
They were activeduring early Muromachi period to late Edo Period.
The jigane is black and the hada pattenr could be seen clearly.
The hamon looks like Bizen swords at first glance however, there is much Shirake fog like Utsuri appearing
and boshi is midarekomi style in many of the blade.
They have nice deep sori as well.  
This blade is long and engraved Hi. We recommend this blade for viewing and also Iai.

Tsuba : Iron plate large size mokko tsuba with the rim covered in shakudo.
Fuchikashira : Shakudo plate. The kashira is shakudo plated
with design of a monkey engraved and inlayed with gold.
Saya : Black roiro saya
Menuki : Shakudo plate with monkey design engraved and inlayed with gold.
Kurigata:Horn
