Katana in Shirasaya (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature : Mumei (Fujishima)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to regular Saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Habaki : Copper single Habaki.
Blade length : 65.7 cm or 25.86 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi : 4
Width at the hamachi : 2.73 cm or 1.07 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.84 cm or 0.72 inches.
Kasane : 0.69 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Early Muromachi period.
Shape : Osuriage Mumei, regular size Katana with large.
Jigane : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. It is clear Jigane.
And visible to see the texture.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Gunome Midare and Ko-Gunome Midare with Notare.
In Ha, there are many Sunagashi and Kinsuji. The Hamon is bright.
Boshi is Notare, Hakikake shape.

Special feature : Fujishima school was a swordsmith group in Echizen province,
from ealry Muromachi period to middle Muromachi period.
The founder of Fujishima school was a Tomoshige.
Tomoshige moved to near the Fujishima castle.
(Fujishima town of Fukui pref in today.)
And he made swords for Samurai of Fujishima castle.
And so, he and his students are called Fujishima school.
This blade is well grained with many Sunagashi and Kinsuji.
