Katana : Mumei (Hoki Kuni Hideharu)

Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (Consignment sale)

Signature : Mumei (Hoki Kuni Hideharu)

The blade was polished by good polisher.
Habaki : Gold foiled single habaki.
Blade length : 83.63 cm or 32.92 inches.
Sori : 3.33 cm or 1.31 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.99 cm or 1.17 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.94 cm or 0.76 inches.
Kasane : 0.95 cm or 0.37 inches.
Era : Late Edo Keiou era.
Shape : The blade is very long(83,63 cm) and rather wide and thick with deep sori nice looking shape.
On bit sides the a dragon is engraved (Openwork grating watermark )unusual engraveing.
Jitetsu : Itame had well grained with jinie attach and chikei work.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with 3 or 4 times pile up with sunagashi and kinsuji work.

Special feature : The sword is Mumei(unsigned) and attributed as Hideharu Hoki province.
The engraving was done Kindai not so old but Openwork grating watermark need high technical work.
Even though the hormone is not old but wonderful high technical hormone which is quite rare to see.
Hoki Kuni Hideharu was called Waichiro Hujimoto and worked late Edo period,
but unfortunately the era was changed to Meiji and issued decree banning the wearing of swords,
so he must change the business from making sword to others.
It is sorely missed because of his nice sword technique.

Koshirae : Wonderful Tachi Koshirae. Sword fittings are all Edo period.
Tsuba : On the Mokko style syakudo isimeji style Tsiba,the rim is covered by shakudo gold color.
Fuchikashira : On the syakudo plate, some design is engraved.
Saya : On the pine needle saya, painted flower design by gold make.
Menuki : A flower vase with peony flower is engraved by syakudo plate.
