Katana: Mumei (Kongo Hyoue)

The blade was polished
Habaki:gold single foiled habaki.
Blade length : 70.2 cm or 27.63 inches.
Sori : 1.0 cm or 0.39 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi :70.2 cm or 27.63 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.32 cm or 0.91 inches.
Kasane : 0.55cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Late Nanbokucyo to early muromachi.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened) wide
and rather thick and also engraved double hi
and soehi on both sides of the blade.
Jitetsu :Itame hada and mokume hada mixed with jinie attach
and blackish jigane with chikei. it is easy to see the texture.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with uchinoke. Boshi is round shape.

Special feature : Kongo Hyoue school was working at Kyusyu Fukuoka area
at Kamakura period to Gendai(modern times) for a long period.
The nakago on the edge of the shape is Toba style
(when Japanese people visit a grave, a thin long size wood board stand on the back of the grave)
I think this Kongo hyoid school belonged to priest group and made swords for protecting temple or shrine.
The jigane is blackish item or ooitame had with mokume jigane and suguha hamon.
The sword is elegant shape and visible to see the texture and nice hososuguha hamon.

Koshirae :
Tsuba :On the Mokko style iron Tsuba, a dragonfly is engraved.
Fuchikashira :Fuchi:On the syakudo plate, a shell
and fish are engraved with gold color. Kashira:horn.
Saya : black isimeji saya.
Menuki : a shape of Jumonji yari is engraved by shakudo with gold color.
Kojiri: Kurikata: iron plate.
