Katana : Mumei (Shikkake)

Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper)

Signature : Mumei (Shikkake)

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Mumei (Shikkake) belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished (If Nuguinaoshi polish, it will be good)
Habaki : Gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 65 cm or 25.59 inches.
Sori : 1.0 cm or 0.39 inches.
Mekugi : 5
Width at the hamachi : 2.83 cm or 1.11 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.96 cm or 0.77 inches.
Kasane : 0.66 cm or 0.25 inches.
Era : Late Kamakura period.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened) wide and thick, nice looking shape.
On the front, Suken and Bonji are engraved, on the back double streaks of Hi is engraved.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with jinie attached. It is fine chikei work. It is clear jigane.
Hamon : Nie Deki Gunome Midare and Boshi is hakikake style.

Special feature : Shikkake School of Yamato province prospered present Tenri City in Nara pref.
The name Shikkake was from Shikkake-ishi, the stone pedestal settling down
the portable shrine to take a rest on the way of religious services.
The first generation Norinaga is said to be the child of Norihiro.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : On the round shaped iron Tsuba, dragon and Karakusa moyo(design) are engraved in open work.
Fuchikashira : Samurai is engraved by Syakudo plate with gold color. Hamono Chokuzui
Saya : Black color ishimeji saya.
Menuki : Syakudo plate.
