Tachi in Shirasaya, with Koshirae (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper) (Origami)

This Moriie belongs to Saijyo ranking.

Koto : Saijyo saku(the top ranking swordsmith) : Bizen Fukuoka Ichimonji Hatakeda school
The blade was polished
Habaki :Copper plate gold inlay Habaki
Blade length : 68.18 cm or 26.84 inches.
Sori : 2.25 cm or 0.88 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 2.79 cm or 1.09 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.03 cm or 0.79 inches.
Kasane : 0.56 cm or 0.22 inches.
Era : Middle Kamakura period Circa Shogen 1259-1560
Shape : The tang remains very close to Ubu(original tang without any cutting).
The shape is elegant with nice shape with clearly curved Moriie Signature.
Jitetsu : Mixture of Ko-Itame Hada and Nashime Hada patterns. The Jitetsu steel is well grained with Jinie attached.
There are some parts where the Hada patterns are a bit too clear(O-Hada), but it would not bother us when appreciating.
Alike the Shinogi-Ji area, the Hamon on the Jigane steel is mixture of Ko-Itame and Mokume Hada pattern.
Hamon : Nie Deki Choji Midare with remarkable Nioiguchi. Soft koashi and Yo works are also impressive.

Special feature : Sword smith Moriie , a son of the Fukuoka Ichimonji school Morichika, lived in Hatakeda area of Bizen province.
Some of his blade were similar to Osafune Sword Smiths' blade who worked around the same time.
He was famous for his Kaeru Choji Midare Hamon.
At the time he made various type on sword.
He made many Tachi. He started off by making soft Hamon and gradually added active Hamon to his works.
The Midare Utsuri(undulating fog like particles) Hamon appears in the Ha.
The Choji Midare is excellent to view. the activities in the Ha is flowing.
The blade will be ranked to higher level if it is polished again.
The Sayagaki is written by famous sword judge Honami Shinzen. It is highly reliable work.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : Round shape Shakudo tsuba. Rim is covered with gold color.
The motif is philosophers from the Chinese tale.
Fuchikashira : Shakudo plate with warrior design engraved and inlaid with gold.
Saya : Shakudo plate with warrior pattern engraved and inlaid with gold.
Menuki : Shakudo plate with warrior design engraved and inlaid with gold.
