Katana: Mumei (Sikkake)

Katana in Shirasaya, with Koshirae. (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper)

Signature:Mumei attributed as Sikkake school.

The blade was polished
Blade length : 69.2 cm or 27.24 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.85 cm or 1.12 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.97 cm or 0.77 inches.
Kasane : 0.54 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Late Kamakura to early Nanbokucyo period.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened) and rather side and thick with suitable sori and longer kissaki nice looking shape.
Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained with june attach.
there are some small openings but not serious.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with uchinoke, sunagashi and kinsuji work.
Boshi is round shape hakikake style.

Special feature : Shikkake School of Yamato province prospered present Tenri City in Nara pref. The name Shikkake was from Shikkake-ishi, the stone pedestal settling down the portable shrine to take a rest on the way of religious services. 
The jitetsu of this sword is extremely fine that has something in common with Taima School. It satietes the collector's interest.

Koshirae :
Tsuba on the mokko style iron tsuba, samurai
and Japanese mats tree are engraved open work.
Fuchikashira :On the shibuichi plate, pine tree is engraved.
Saya : inro kizami and upper part is kizami says.
Menuki : Autumn leaves are engraved by syakudo plate.
