Katana : Mumei (unsigned) attributed as Ynjyu.

Katana in Shirasaya (NBTHK 48th Juyo paper)

Signature : Mumei (unsigned) attributed as Ynjyu.

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku Jyo saku and regular saku)
This sword Unjyu belongs to Saijyo Saku ranking.

Middle Koto : Jyo saku ranking:Ryo Wazamono cutting test ranking : Bizen.
The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki:gold foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 69.8 cm or 27.48 inches.
Sori : 0.8 cm or 0.31 inches.
Mekugi : 3
Width at the hamachi : 3.04 cm or 1.19 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.51cm or 0.98 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Nanbokucyo period.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened) attributed as Unjyu.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach beautiful nice texture and small utsuri appear.
Hamon : Konie deki suguha and notare mixed. In Hamon, there are many small ashi, Yo scatter in Ha,
Boshi is midarekomi round shape.

Special feature : Unjyu was working from late Kamakura period to Nanbokucyo period.
At that place, Unsyo, Unji, and Unjyu were well known sword maker which is called Ugai school or Unrui.
The style is slightly different to neighboring Aoe and Bizen.
Generally Unjyu is a little difference from Unji that the Hamon in Ha has a lot of activities smakk ashi and Yo.
This sword is quite well grained Jigane and active Hamon.
