Katana: Mumei (Unsigned) Den-Taima

Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)

Signature: Mumei (Unsigned) Den-Taima

The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
Blade length : 70.9 cm or 27.91 inches.
Sori : 1.5 cm or 0.59 inches.
Mekugi: 3
Width at the hamachi : 3.15 cm or 1.24 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.29 cm or 0.90 inches.
Kasane : 0.70 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era :Late Kamakura period.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened) wide and thick with long kissaki nice looking shale.
On both sides of the blade has Bo-Hi and soehi are engraved.
Jitetsu :Koitame and komokume hada nagger massage mixed with chikei work.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha and noter mixed with ashi, Yo work and inside of the blade has sunagashi and kinsuji scatter.

Special feature : At Kamakura period, In Yamato school devide 5 main schools like Hosyo, Tegai, Shikkake,Taima and senjyuin schools.
These school sword makers made for armed priests for guarding Shrine and temples. They made a lot of swords during that period but few signed sword. Taima school also few swords with signed sword like Kuniyuki, Tomokiyo,and Aritoshi.
The special feature of the Taima school's hamon is very similar with Sosyu Yukimitsu which is very thick nioikuchi with kinsuji elegant wonderful hamon.
This blade is quite wide and thick marvelous hamon and Jigane.
There are some lose hada but not serious.
