Katana in Shirasaya(46th NBTHK Juyo paper)

Signature : Mumei (Yamato Sizu)
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Mumei (Yamato Sizu belongs to jyo-jyo saku ranking.

The blade was polished by high ranking polisher.
habaki:gold foiled double habaki.

Blade length : 68.0 cm or 26.77 inches.
Sori : 2.0 cm or 0.78 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.22cm or 1.26 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.45 cm or 0.96 inches.
Kasane : 0.61 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era :Nanbokucyo period.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei(cut shortened) attributed as Yamato Shizu.
Jitetsu :Itame hada and Molume hada mixed with jinie attach
and chikei work and also Utsuri appear beautiful nice texture.
Hamon : Konie deki kogunome midare in Hamon, there are many small sunagashi and kinsuji work.
Boshi is Komidare yakizume style.

Special feature: According to the Jyuyo Zuhu,
Yamato shizu means that Sizu saburo Kaneuji was making swords at Yamato province.
But he and his students moved to Mino province called as Yamato shizu.
Even though the blade was cut shortend (oosuruage mumei) the blade is large size without Kizu and flow .
The Jigane is itame hada and Mokume hada mixed with chikei and Yubashirri also bo-utsuri appear on the Jigane.
The Hamon is rather lower temper line based kogunome hamon with sunagashi yubashiri.
This Yamato shizu ia elegant soft feeling sword.
