Katana: Mumei(Sue Bizen)

Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Hozon paper)

Signature : Mumei(unsigned) attributed as Sue Bizen school.

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku) This sword belongs to Futu saku(regular quality)
The blade was polished
Habaki :copper single habaki.
Blade length : 69.4cm or 27.32 inches.
Sori : 2.2 cm or 0.86 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.88 cm or 1.13 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.06 cm or 0.41 inches.
Kasane : 0.54 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : The blade is suriage nakago(cut shortened) attributed as Sue Bizen school.
Jitetsu :Itame had and mokume had mixed with jinie attach well grained blade
and Utsuri appear on the Ji.
Hamon : Koniedeki Cyoji midair and gunome midair mixed with ash work.

Special feature : At late Muromachi period war time, Bizen Sukesada,
Kiyomitu and other sword maker made uncountable swords for demanding consumers.
Especially Sukesada made famous mass productive sword maker and also Kiyomitsu.
I think this sword looks Sukesada.
I think in the mass productive items, this sword looks higher quality.
The shape looks Kamakura period wonderful elegant shape and also
nice Jigane and hamon. Generally this sword doesn't have much Kizu.
