Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon paper)

Signature : Mumei(Sue-Sa)

Chu-Koto: Chikuzen
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saki)This sword belongs to Jyojyo Saku ranking.
The blade was polished by high rank polisher.
Habaki :Gold double habaki
Blade length : 75.9cm or 29.88inches.
Sori : 1.5cm or 0.59inches.
Mekugi :  2
Width at the hamachi : 3.22cm or 1.29inches.
Width at the Kissaki :2.2cm or 0.87inches.
Kasane : 0.67cm or 0.26inches.
Era : Middle Nanbokucho period to late Nanbokucho period
Shape :O-Suriage mumei with wide mihaba and thick kasane.
It is O-kissaki nice shape katana.
Jigane: Itame hada well grained with jinie attached.
The Chikeiwork is also attached. The jigane is clear and refined work.
Hamon: Nie deki suguha style with mixture of Notare and kogunome midare hamon.
The actiities such as ashi, yo, sunagashia and fine kinsuji work is appearing.

Special feature: The origin of Sa lived in Chikuzen Oki bearch and was the son of Nissai.
He was said to be one of the 10 great students of Masamune but this is not for sure.
But the Soshuden style of his work is definitely the top level work of Chukoto.
Ezpecially the well grained jigane is spectacular. The school continued until Nanbokucho peirod
and after that Sue Sa smithes such as Yasuyohoshi, Yukihiro and Yoshisada was active.
This sword is said to be the Sue-Sa school that was active around middle to late Nanbokucho period.
It is wide and thick long kissaki work and the jigane is clear and refined Soshuden work.
Both the hamon and the shinogi-ji are well grained.
There is over 30 swords that has passed NBTHK Jyuyo shinsa in the past.
The work is fine and healthy work that could go to higher level.
