Kanbun 7nenn 8gatsu Kichijitsu (August 1667)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 70.1cm or 27.59inches.
Sori : 0.8cm or 0.31inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.33 cm or 1.31 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.28 cm or 0.89 inches.
Kasane : 0.72 cm or 0.28 inches.
Era : Edo period around Kanbun era (August 1667)
Shape : It is wide and thick magnificent looking katana. It is shallow sori Kanbun shinto.
Jitetsu :Koitame had well grained with jinie attached.
Hamon : Konie base gunome midair with ups and downs in the ha. Boushi is round ended at the front side and irregular line at the back.

Special feature : This piece is the third generation of Ecchu no kami Masatoshi with
chrynethemum crest at the front side. There is also a signature at the back side of
Kanbun 7th year August lucky day which is rare to be seen. The first generation Masatoshi has
been moving to Kyo from Mino with Kanemichi and became very successful. This sword is the third
generation of the famous Masatoshi.
