Jidai(era) :Late Edo Period

Special feature: The signature "Hakuou" was used by Goto Ichijyo in his last years. He was a the son of Shigenori, the 4th generaiton of a branch family of Goto.At Kaei 4th year(1851) he has moved to Edo. At MEiji 9th year(1876), he died at the age of 86.
This piece was most likely a part of Issaku koshirae. On the kojiri, there is a fine signature engraved as "Jinen 74th year Hakuou saku". It is a masterpiece of Goto Ichijyo. It is a precious reference to help study the signature.
