Tanto in Koshirae

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 21.7cm or 8.55 inches.
Sori : No sori
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 2.16 cm or 0.85 inches.
Kasane : 0.65 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : Regular size shape with thickness. It is Mitsumune(three-sided mune) Tanto.
Jitetsu : Itamehada gradually flowing to Masa. It has fine hada.
Hamon : Nie base Gonome Midare up and down. It is Hitatsura style.

Special feature : This piece has a sign engraved as Hiromitsu but we don't guarantee the mei. It is thick Hitatsura style blade of Shimada school.

Koshirae : Aikuchi Issaku Koshirae
Fuchikashira : Iron base with pattern drawn on with silver and dragon drawn on with gold.
Saya : Dark brown Kawarinuri saya.
Menuki : The family crest is engraved with solid gold.
Bashin : It is written in kanji (Kaminariyoke: protecting thunder disaster).
From ancient period, Japanese fearful matter is earthquake, Kaminari(thunder disaster),fire and father's anger.
They must have been very frightful with the unexpected Kaminari disaster.
