Tanto in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon paper)

Sinshinto: Chu-jyo saku ranking : Uzen province.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : SIlver single habaki.
Blade length : 22.72 cm or 8.94 inches.
Width at the hamachi : 2.02 cm or 0.79 inches.
Kasane : 0.54 cm or 0.21 inches.
Era : Late Edo period Tenpo era.
Shape : The blade is regular size with thick.
On the both sides of the blade has a powerful Bo-hi and Gomab hash.
Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained with jinie attach and visible to see the texture.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha with thick nioikuchi and bright hamon.
Boshi is round shape togari gokoro.

Special feature : Ikeda Isshu was called Ryuken Nyudo.
He was born at Ikeda family 3rd generation Denbei's second son .
At Bunka 2nd year (1805) when Suishinshi Masahide who was a swordsmith for Akimoto Daimyo family Yamagata prefecture visited Shounai province, Ikeda Isshu became a student of the Masahide and studied and mastered. At the same year, he was hired by Shonai Daimyo family and appanage for 3 person.
At 1810 he got more appanage 10 person and studied under the Kato Kunihide.
He passed away Tenpo 12th May 69 years of age.
At Tenpo 11th 1840 he transferred and responsibility to second son.

Koshirae :
Tsuba :Shibuichi plate hamidasi tsuba.
Fuchikashira :Kojiri:On the shibuichi plate, 2 person are engrave: Very good condition.
Saya : Cloth is wrapping on the saya.
Menuki : A devil and Otafuku (lady) are engraved.

Historical background: 1887 Tenpo 8 Oosio Heihachiro noran, ikutaman no ran and American war ship came to Jaoan Urawa harbor but beaten back by Japanese soldiers.
Edo government is becoming weaken and going to the end.
