Wakizashi in Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature:Bungo koku Fujiwara Shigeyuki first generation.

The blade was polished.
habaki : Gold color single habaki.
Blade length : 55.2 cm or 21.73 inches.
Sori : 1.4 cm or 0.55 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.78 cm or 1.09 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.92 cm or 0.75 inches.
Kasane : 0.61 cm or 0.24 inches.
Era : Early Edo period Kanei era.
Shape : The blade is regular size and thick with deeper sori and long kissaki nice looking style.
Jitetsu : Item had well grained with jinie attach and small chikei work.
Hamon : Niedeki gunome midair with ashi.
Boshi is round shape hakikake style. On the shindig, there are active hamon work.

Special feature : Bungo koku Fujiwara Shigeyuki was working at Early Edo Kanei era.
Generally speaking Bungo school is not good reputation but early stage of Bungo school's jigane and hamon are well repotted sword makers.
This sword is nice shape and nice Jigane.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : On the round shaped iron Tsuba, engrave sow design around mimi and engrave some design open work.
Fuchikashira : Kojiri:brass ishimeji style.
Saya : On the black saya, cloud and a dragon are painted.
Menuki : A family crest is engraved with gold color.
