Wakizashi: Echigo Kami Kanesada(2nd generation)

Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae(NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Paper)
Signature : Echigo Kami Kanesada(2nd generation)

Shinto:jyo-Jyo saku ranking:oowazamono cutting test ranking.
(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijyo saku, Jyojyo saku
Jyo saku and regular saku)
This Echigo Kami Kanesada belongs to Jyojyo saku ranking.
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 52.8 cm or 20.78 inches.
Sori : 1.4 cm or 0.55 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.07 cm or 1.20 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.16 cm or 0.85 inches.
Kasane : 0.73 cm or 0.28 inches.
Era : Edo period around Kanbun era(1661-1672).
Shape : Wide and rather thick blade with ratehr large Sori.
Kissaki is long. Nice shape Wakizashi.
Jitetsu : Ko-Itame Hada well grained with Jinie attach. This is beautiful Osaka Jigane.
Hamon : Nie Deki, Suguha from Hamachi and then Gunome Midare with thick Nioikuchi.
In Ha, there are many Sunagashi and fine Kinsuji. Boshi is round shape.

Special feature : Echigo (No) Kami Kanesada the Second forged this katana.
It is said that he was born in Mino or Kochi province. He learned under Kanesada
the First at Osaka and later became a son-in-law.
The Second was superior to the First and ranked at O-waza-mono.
