Wakizashi : Mumei (Norimitsu)

Wakizashi in Shirasaya

Signature: Mumei (unsigned)(Norimitsu)

The blade was polished.
Habaki: Gold and silver foiled double habaki.
Blade length : 50.5 cm or 19.88inches.
Sori : 1.3 cm or 0.51inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.55 cm or 1inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.86 cm or 0.73 inches.
Kasane : 0.48 cm or 0.18 inches.
Era : From late Nanbokucho period to late Muromachi period.
Shape : It is wide and thick regular shape wakizashi.
There is sori with long kissaki.
There is some utsuri seen.
Jitetsu :Itame hada well grained with jinie attached.
There is utsuri seen in the ji.
Hamon : Nie based suguha with mixture of koashi.
It is bright ha. Boushi is round end and ashi is softly attached.

Special feature : From the sword construction,
it seems to be Norimitsu of Bizen province
at Muromachi period. The founder of the Norimitsu was Nanbokucho period
and continued several generations. This blade was made at late Muromachi period.
Norimitsu is a few Zokumyo signature but very few.
There are some kizu at the hamachi area but it could be hidden by the habaki.
