This sword belongs to jyo saku ranking.

The blade is polished.
Habaki : Gold foiled single habaki
Blade length : 35.0 cm or 13.8 inches.
Sori : 0.7cm or 0.28 inches.
Mekugi : 2
Width at the hamachi : 3.1 cm or 1.2 inches.
Kasane : 0.58cm or 0.23 inches.
Era : Early Edo period.
Shape : The blade is beautiful Syobu zukuri style.
Jigane :Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach beautiful Hizen texture.
Hamon :Niedeki suguha with thick nioikuchi and Habuchi.
In Hamon, there are many Sunagashi and Kinsuji work.

Special feature: Sadayoshi the First generation, whom born as Hashimoto Shinzaemon was a swordsmith of Hizen province, present Saga prefecture in Kyushu Island. Both his father and grandfather passed away when Tadayoshi was 13 years old. Tadayoshi learned under Dotanuki Zenbei in Higo province, present Kumamoto pref. Tadayoshi and Munenaga went to Kyoto to learn under the Umetada School in 1596. Tadayoshi learned forging sword and Munenaga learned the carving. They returned to Hizen at 1598. Tadayoshi worked as a retained swordsmith of the Nabeshima family in the domain of Saga. Tadayoshi's first sword inscribed the date was forged in 1600 at the age of 29. He changed the name to Tadahiro at the occasion of approved as the Musashi-Daijo in February 1624. Tadahiro (Tadayoshi) passed away in 1632.
His sword was ranked as a Saijyo-saku O-wazamono in the Shin-to period. The Hizen School placed extremely important position in the history of this period. The main Tadayoshi family and derived branches had been developed and prospared.

Tadayoshi inscribed the signature with five characters entire sword forged around 1624 to 1628, the first year to the 4th year of Kan-ei era. Rarely his sword forged during in 1628, the 5th year of Kan-ei has a little biggish signature inscribed with medium-thick Tagane.
The temperline of most Hizen-to starts slightly away from the hamachi except for some swords with the signature Hizen (No) Kuni Tadayoshi by Tadayoshi the First. The same applies to the sword with the signature Junin Tadayoshi and Musashi Daijyo Tadahiro.

Tsuba : Mokko shape wood Tsuba with black Urushinuri.
Menuki : a Chinese phoenix is engraved with gold color.
Fuchi: On the Shakudo plate, Flowers and Ajiro pattern design are engraved with gold color.
Kozuka:On the Shakudo Nanako-ji plate, flower design is engraved with gold color.
