Wakizashi: Mumei (Sue Nio)

Wakizashi in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature: Mumei (Unsigned) attributed as Sue Nio.

The blade was polished.
Habaki : Silver iroe Suaka cooper single habaki.
Blade length : 45.2 cm or 17.79 inches.
Sori : 0.9 cm or 0.35 inches.
Mekugi:4
Width at the hamachi : 2.74 cm or 1.07 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.14 cm or 0.84 inches.
Kasane : 0.51 cm or 0.2 inches.
Era : Late Nanbokucho period to early Muromachi era.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage (cut shortened) mumei.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada quite well grained with jinie attach with chikei and Utsuri appear.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha hamon with ashi, and yo scatter.

Special feature : The founder of the Nio started from Kamakura period by Kiyotsuna and continued to Muromachi period, From late Nanbokucho period to Muromachi period is called Sue Nio.
I think this blade is more ild feeling but NBTHK issued as Sue Nio.
If the blade will be polished again, the blade will be more old good swordsmith.
Anyway even if the blade is Oosuriage mumei, the blade is elegant and fantastic jigane and hamon.

Fuchikashira :On the brass plate, some karakusa style is engraved.
Saya : Black roiro saya.
Menuki : On the brass plate, Karakusa style design
