Wakizashi: Soshu Ju Tsunahiro

Wakizashi in Shirasaya. (NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Token) (Consignment sale)
Signature : Soshu Ju Tsunahiro

(We divide 4 sections for each sword as Saijo saku, Jojo saku Jo saku and regular saku)
This sword belongs to Jojo saku ranking.

The blade is polished by high ranking polisher.
Habaki : Gold foiled double Habaki.
Blade length : 53.5 cm or 21.1 inches.
Sori : 1.6 cm or 0.6 inches.
Mekugi :  1
Width at the hamachi : 3.03 cm or 1.19 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 2.3 cm or 0.91 inches.
Kasane : 0.74 cm or 0.29 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period.
Shape : The blade is pretty wide and thick with deep curve and long Kissaki in nice looking shape.
Jigane : Itame-hada and Mokume-hada mixed with Chikei appeared strong feeling texture.
Hamon : Niedeki Gunome-midare and Tobiyaki
Special feature : Soushu Ju Tsunahiro school were influenced by Hasebe school at Nanbokucho period.
At Eisho era, Tsunahiro the first generation moved to Odawara and started to make Soshu style swords and continued up to late Edo period.
These swords smiths made Itame-hada with Chikei which is called Hadatachi-jigane.
This Tsunahiro is rather bigger size healthy blade and marvelous well grained Soshu style Jigane and Hamon active up and down and also Tobiyaki style.
We recommend this wild feeling Soshu Tsunahiro.

Koshirae :
Saya : Cranes are painted with gold color Makie style on red and black aventurine lacquered Saya.
Fuchi : Flower engraved on iron plate with gold color.
Kashira : Made from black horn.
Menuki : Family crest is engraved on Shakudo plate with gold color.
